FPC has outstanding ministries for children and youth.
From infancy to adolescence, there is a way for everyone to connect.
Babies and toddlers have a special program for the whole family that includes singing and storytelling. An awareness of God’s love is fostered through rhythm, movement, and song. Families with children just a few weeks to a few years, along with any older siblings, come together for a time of music, prayer, storytelling, and craft. Terrific fun for the babies and toddlers, this is also a great time for parents and grandparents to connect with others in a casual, spiritual way.

The mission of Children’s Church School is to educate a generation of young people about the love of God expressed in the life and ministry of Jesus Christ. Children learn the stories and teachings of the Bible in a nurturing environment that promotes the core values of the church.
September through May, children begin their time of worship at 11:00 a.m. with their families in the Sanctuary before attending Children’s Church School in the Mellin-Macnab building after the Children’s Prayer.

Children’s Church includes a strong musical education component. Half of the Church School Hour is dedicated to engaging our children and youth in making a joyful noise to God. Children of all ages are encouraged to explore and befriend their voices as they gain the skills to be worship leaders in the congregation singing at special events and services throughout the year. Singers learn theologically rich pieces from around the world and familiarize themselves with the great hymns of the church. The program is led by Jon Harris, a gifted singer and music teacher. For more information about the music program, contact Jon Harris at email@example.com.
Our Youth Program strives to prepare our young people for a life filled with love, justice, and acceptance. Youth meet regularly for weeknight programming, as well as monthly events following service on Sundays. The youth also participate in special service, fellowship and cultural outings. For more information on this program, contact Audrey Webber at firstname.lastname@example.org.
In our Reformed tradition, Confirmation is the journey we take to learn more about our faith and connect to the Baptismal vows our parents and caregivers made on our behalf. First Church holds an exciting 12-week course where youth have a safe place to ask questions, explore, and grow in their understanding of faith and spirituality. Confirmation will be offered during the 2019-2020 schoolyear. If you have a youth in grades 7, 8 or 9 that is interested in joining the confirmation journey, please email the Rev. Davis at email@example.com.
