Thanksgiving Eve Service

The congregation of First Presbyterian Church, and several other Jewish and Christian congregations in the Greenwich Village community, will worship together in an Inter-Faith Service for Thanksgiving Eve on Wednesday, November 23, at 7:00 p.m. The service will be held in the Sanctuary of First Presbyterian Church. Children’s choirs from other congregations, as well as the Children’s and Youth Music Ministries of First Presbyterian, will participate in the service, which will include prayers, stories from various faith traditions, and hymns of the season. A reception will follow the service in the Esther Morrow Room of the South Wing.

Harvest Time at Holmes

9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

On Saturday, October 15, from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., join the Membership/Fellowship and Family Ministries committees for a fun-filled autumn day at Holmes Presbyterian Camp, 55 miles north of New York City. “Welcome time” will be followed by pumpkin painting, scarecrow making, hiking, boating, outdoor games, music, meditation, reading, barbecue, napping, an optional visit to a nearby organic farm, and more! Bus transportation will be provided, leaving FPC at 9:30 a.m. and leaving Holmes at 4:30 p.m. Directions will be provided for those who wish to drive or take the nearby train. COST AND REGISTRATION: $25 for adults 12 and up (bus & lunch), $15 for adults 12 & up (lunch only), $8 for children ages 3-11 (flat rate), free for children under 3. Sign up in the Mellin-Macnab lobby today. Payment requested upon registration to secure numbers for lunch and bus rides.

The North lawn will again be reserved for families with small children. A free-will donation will be collected.

Summer BBQ Cookouts

Please join us for our weekly Wednesday cookouts through August 25. All are welcome, so invite your friends and family! You provide the food; we’ve got the rest: a hot grill, soft drinks, ice, and condiments. We look forward to seeing you there!

Cleaning for Christmas?

As you cull your books and treasures during Spring Cleaning, please consider boxing up the ones you no longer need and bringing them to the Church for next December’s Tartan Fair—our 20th! Newlyweds, bring us those “what-in-the-world-is-this?” gifts you received. (But please, no adult clothing and no computer components.)

We meet periodically to sort and price your goodies and books. The next session is set for Monday, May 2 from 6:30 p.m. to 9ish in the basement of the Mellin-Macnab Building. Come one, come all!

Our regular meetings are on the second Wednesday of each month at 6:30 p.m.—pizza provided. The next meeting is on Wednesday, May 18 (not the second Wednesday this time). Call Joan Ryan at (212) 765-2141 or email joanlryan@aol.com to volunteer to work or to be one of the Fairest!
